Southwestern Zen
Southwestern Zen
This is one of the first photos I've taken on large format, and it remains one of my favorites. I took this photo on my first solo photography trip, and in many ways, this is the photo that is responsible for my career as a landscape photographer. This was taken on a February 2009 trip to the Colorado Plateau in a slot canyon called Buckskin Gulch.
Though the image feels very warm because of the reflected light, it was about 20 degrees when I took this photo. I love the desert varnish on the background wall, and how the light colored bush anchors the foreground.
This photo was taken on 4x5 Velvia 50 film color slide film.
The photo has already been drum scanned and optimized for print.
