I photographed this scene on my winter 2021 trip to Zion National Park. I saw snow in the forecast, so I made my way to Zion ahead of the storm. I spent the morning photographing some snow covered maples at high elevation, then returned to the main canyon just as the rain turned to snow. The canyon was filled with wonderful atmospherics as I set up my camera during a light snowfall. As soon as I was ready to expose my film, the snow stopped and the clouds began to clear. I was only able to expose a single sheet of film before the sun emerged, and the snow melted from the trees.
This photo was taken on Fuji Provia 100F transparency film with a Fujinon C 450mm lens on an Arca-Swiss F-Metric 8x10 view camera.
